The Befeler Group, a privately held real estate investment firm based in Miami that focuses on acquiring and managing multifamily, office, and hotel properties throughout the State of Florida is seeking a full-time Property Accountant. Befeler Group has established a leadership position in the markets where it operates by acquiring and managing properties that benefit from value-add capitalization and are sufficiently large to produce targeted economies of scale.

Seeking self-starter who can take ownership of a variety of responsibilities in a proactive manner with GAAP accounting experience, quantitative skills and previous experience working in a real estate related environment. The position must be able to understand current technology and work with a high degree of independence.


Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Create and manage general ledger journal entries, reconcile balance sheet and bank accounts.
  • Prepare monthly property financial reports for executives and owners.
  • Review and analyze specific AP invoices.
  • Assist with annual preparation of property budgets.
  • Responsible for timely payment of mortgages, taxes and insurance.
  • Prepare & process bi-weekly payroll.
  • Provide input/feedback for improving processes, procedures related to duties and responsibilities, and initiating quality efficiency enhancements.
  • Ad hoc projects as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years of property accounting or real estate related experience.
  • Experience with current technology and accounting software (experience using Appfolio a plus).
  • Strong technological proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office. Strong command of Excel required.
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, meet deadlines and be able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Sound knowledge of bookkeeping theories and practices.
  • Bi-Lingual English/Spanish preferred but not necessary.
  • Capacity to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and integrity, upholding the company’s standards for privacy and discretion.

Compensation: $80,000 to $95,000 commensurate with experience, plus quarterly profit-sharing bonus that averages $5,000 - $6,000 per quarter ($20,000 to $24,000 per year).
