JOB SUMMARY

AFRE Capital LLC is seeking a bright, motivated professional to join our entrepreneurial real estate investment firm. This position will be located in our midtown Manhattan office. We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team to focus on investment performance analysis and fund operations for AFRE’s fund investment portfolio.

ROLE

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team to focus on investment performance analysis and fund operations for AFRE’s fund investment portfolio. This is an entrepreneurial opportunity to join a newly created team that is extremely well-capitalized with strong leadership. Our intention is to create a leading global family-office real estate investment firm with institutional standard asset management and operating controls.

The candidate will serve as a key member of our team focused on private fund portfolio operations & reporting, investment management, and fund transaction execution. The role requires strong attention to detail and a high degree of operational organization. Day-to-day responsibilities include valuation and performance reporting, portfolio analytics, information and documentation control, operational risk management, and asset allocation support. Candidates should be able to perform investment analytics, originate quarterly performance reporting, contribute to Investment Committee materials, and interact with our consultants including accounting, legal, tax advisory, and custodian bankers. The ideal candidate will have a background including financial analysis, consolidation and reporting, portfolio management and/or fund operations.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

Investment Management:

  • Monitor investments in the portfolio including adherence to strategy and manager performance.
  • Assume ownership and accountability for the production and final delivery of quarterly fund performance reports including quarterly consolidated financial statements using manager performance data.
  • Run portfolio analytics including development of fund model, performance dashboards and presentations.
  • Assist in analysis of new manager investment strategy, experience, track record, team, organization and ownership, fees and other business terms of the proposed investment.
  • Assist with financial analysis, market research, and preparation of investment committee materials as needed for new fund investments.

Operations Management:

  • Aggregate and organize fund documents such as financial statements, performance reports, investor letters, commentaries, factsheets, etc.; interpret documents and flag information of interest in quarterly reporting or ad hoc to AFRE investments team.
  • Develop and refine investment operations (i.e. transaction processing, investment funding, cash transfers, wire set-up, standing letters of authorization, etc.) in accordance with industry best practices.
  • Develop a clear understanding of AFRE’s existing fund assets, liabilities, planning structures, and cash flow requirements.
  • Liaise with external auditors for interim reviews, year-end audits and controls testing.
  • Research and reconcile partner statements and financials with internal records and agreements.
  • Compile and analyze financial information for year-end reporting.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting, finance or equivalent.
  • Solid understanding of basic finance and fund accounting principles and industry best practices in fund reporting and operations.
  • 3 to 5 years of financial services experience, with exposure to investment operations, fund administration, and investment management.
  • Ability to coordinate and communicate clearly and efficiently with external parties as needed (including consultants, fund managers, etc.) to ensure seamless processing of transactions and information exchange.
  • Exhibit a positive, proactive, “no-job-is-too-small” attitude.
  • Prioritize operating ethically and professionally, demonstrate a strong sense of integrity, and consistently exercise good judgement.
  • Ability to work independently with strong organizational skills.
  • Great attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to be flexible and work well in a small team environment.
