SelectLeaders Real Estate Job Network is in the midst of strategy meetings with our Professional Association partners and the topic is…. YOU and your career. Iconic Laszlo Block, head of what we call Human Resources, and Google calls ‘People Operations,’ recently told the WSJ that the way to make Work work better is through, “transparency, goal-setting, frequent performance reviews, and a less-hierarchal work structure that empowers employees to solve problems for themselves and critique their bosses as often as they critique themselves and each other.” The goal is to get employees “to act like owners” and take responsibility. But a company needs to establish clear goals so employees are set up for success when they make decisions. We all have had the experience of being passed up the food chain dealing with a company that does not empower their employees or ensure they know the company’s policies so they can make good decisions. These companies soon fail, because customers want problems solved. What makes Work work also makes a company and your career successful: set clear goals and take responsibility to reach them.
