The Opportunity
The Senior Analyst/Associate Director will assist in originating debt and equity financing using a variety of capital sources through building and fostering relationships with sponsors and capital sources while serving as the main point of contact for borrowers throughout the capitalization process.  The Senior Analyst/Associate Director will serve as the financial intermediary between Berkadia’s borrower clients, the Company’s internal and external capital sources, as well as third-party capital sources that the Company represents while fostering reliable and effective communications to enhance the likelihood that the parties will reach agreement on capitalization terms.  

• Assist the Capital Market’s team in performing due diligence by analyzing financial data and pre-screening sponsor qualifications;
• Actively participate in internal discussions and team meetings;
• Underwrite and model complex property cash flows to determine the viability of a deal;
• Collect and analyze required third party reports and provide them in financing packages for underwriter reviews;
• Perform reporting related to the Company’s deal pipeline on a timely basis to ensure transaction related information is up-to-date, accurate, reliable; and available;
• Actively participate in meetings with borrower clients and start to develop a foundation for relationships;
• Work collaboratively with the Capital Market’s network to procure new customers and leverage existing customers for potential deals;
• Develop and maintain broad knowledge of various programs, including government agencies, life insurance companies, and equity sources;
• Aid the Capital Markets team in preparing financing offering memorandums that meet the requirements of Berkadia’s internal and third-party capital sources.

• Advanced experience in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Advanced financial modeling skills
• Advanced experience with CRE Research tools such as CoStar, TREPP, AxioMetrics, Real Capital Analytics, and Yardi Matrix
• Experience with GSE and life company financing.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
• Ability to provide outstanding customer service to our sponsors, capital sources and internal partners.
• Outstanding attention to detail.
• Ability to manage expectations, informing stakeholders of potential delays due to conflicting priorities.
• Argus experience preferred.
• Sales experience preferred.
• Existing relationships with sponsors with capital sources preferred.

What is required for this role

• Bachelor’s degree required; Business-related field of study preferred.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in Capital Markets, Real Estate Development, Asset Management or Acquisitions.
