Position Description

 

Reports To: Regional Production Manager

 

Job purpose

 

The Originator is responsible for originating multifamily loans, senior housing loans and loans for healthcare facilities under programs offered by government and government-sponsored enterprises (“GSEs”), such as the Federal National Mortgage Association (“Fannie Mae”), the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation (“Freddie Mac”), the Government National Mortgage Association (“Ginnie Mae”) and the Federal Housing Administration ("FHA"), a division of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (“HUD”).

 

Duties and responsibilities

 

  • Originate Fannie Mae DUS, Freddie Mac, and FHA loans within a regional market.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with borrowers, with an emphasis on direct borrowers such as developers, owners, builders, contractors as well as real estate brokers, and other sources of third party mortgage loan origination opportunities in the appropriate market channels.
  • Prescreen and qualify loans prior to the underwriting and closing process.
  • Interface with company credit personnel during the underwriting and closing process.
  • Interface with company servicing personnel as needed.

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • Minimum of 7 to 10 years of relevant mortgage origination experience.
  • Proven track record of originating multifamily mortgage loans through Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and FHA.
  • Strong relationships with borrowers in the local/regional market.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Understanding of and ability to structure around risks associated with transactions.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Collaborative personal/professional style that advances a collegial partnered approach to meeting corporate objectives.
  • Ability to work successfully in a large financial institution.
  • Ability to effectively represent customers and business partners.
  • Advanced degree preferred
