The mission of the Engineering department in FREC is to provide maximum availability of Fidelity’s critical business processes and office environments by focusing on the design, delivery, operation and maintenance of building infrastructure systems.

 The Expertise You Have
  • BS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related engineering specialty is required

  • Professional Engineer license in electrical or mechanical engineering preferred
  • Professional Registration Is Desirable (Any State, Any Technical Discipline)
  • Completion of an accredited State Licensing program resulting in a Master License in electrical or mechanical trades is a plus
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in the engineering and critical infrastructure operation with increasing responsibility in terms of job scope and staff management responsibility.  Experience in the financial services industry is a plus but not required. Experience working in data center environments a strong plus.
The Skills You Bring
  • You exhibit strategic influence by identifying new business challenges, developing strategies to address them, anticipating questions and concerns and influencing decision-makers to drive timely, informed decisions.
  • You possess excellent problem-solving skills by exhibiting knowledge of approaches, tools and techniques for recognizing, anticipating and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; you weigh the cost, benefits and risk factors associated with different approaches and are unconstrained by traditional or orthodox ways of thinking.
  • You take personal ownership and accountability to deliver strong results by clearly communicating expectations, soliciting constructive feedback and remaining focused on accomplishing a goal in the face of ambiguity and constant change.
  • You demonstrate organizational astuteness and relationship management by understanding Fidelity’s culture and influence process, building a network of individuals to leverage and demonstrating respect in all interactions with colleagues, vendor partners, corporate service providers and business partners.
  • You are a collaborative team player who solicits and facilitates discussions of issues with stakeholders in order to ensure joint problem-solving, gain others’ commitment to goals and recognize the value of diverse and multifunctional perspectives to address issues and solve problems.

The Value You Deliver
  • Leading a 24x7 engineering operations team, including day-to-day management, retention, recruiting, training and development.  The Director will work collaboratively with the Real Estate Operations Director, Senior Facility Manager, Project Managers and other functional areas and coordinate all internal and external service providers; the main internal client is Fidelity Enterprise Infrastructure (EI).
  • Managing the execution of work that alters the physical layout of the critical electrical/thermal infrastructure to provide minimal risk of business interruption during execution.
  • Participating in the project delivery process from conceptual design through to final commissioning and sign-off, identifying quality control issues that could affect the project outcome and providing timely feedback to the project manager.
  • Developing staff training materials, schedules, and operational and emergency response procedures to ensure reliability goals are achieved.
  • Coordinating the performance of maintenance, repair and emergency work to ensure continuous availability of critical business functions.
