PM LEAD Custodian

Job Description

 

 

Reports to:                 Director of Housekeeping

 

Basic Function:         Perform daily housekeeping tasks to maintain the cleanliness and attractive condition of the school.

 

FLSA Status:              Non-exempt

 

Work Hours:             3:30pm – 12:00am

 

Essential Functions of Position      

  • Assist the supervisor in overseeing the smooth operations of the PM shift
    • Inspect areas and provide feedback to all staff involved.
    • Ensure that all work orders are completed by the end of the shift.
    • Support supervisor in any and all capacities needed.
  • Clean offices, lounges, classrooms, and corridors
    • Clean all desktops and remove ink stains, pencil marks, and gum.
    • Remove large debris from floor.
    • Empty, clean, and reline trashcans. 
    • Spot clean walls removing fingerprints, smudges, etc.
    • Complete low dusting level and below, vertical and horizontal surfaces.
    • Complete high dusting and general cleaning including corners, edges on all classrooms and adjacent hallway.
    • Clean dry eraser boards
  • Clean all restrooms
    • Clean all fixtures, sinks, counters, commodes, and urinals.
    • Sweep floor.
    • Remove large debris from floor.
    • Replenish all dispensers.
    • Clean mirrors and partitions.
  • Vacuum offices, lounges, classrooms, and corridors
    • Vacuum carpet daily.
    • Remove gum.
    • Spot clean stains.
    • Pick up/sweep any large items.
    • Weekly clean of edges and corners.
  • Maintain custodial closets and equipment
    • Keep closet neat and orderly, with supplies stacked and chemicals properly labeled.
    • Keep floor and sink clean.
    • Clean equipment and store neatly.
    • Empty dust cup, clean vacuums in classrooms weekly.
  • Maintain hard floors
    • Dust and damp mop floors.
    • Spray buff according to schedule.
    • Clean corners and edges.
    • Clean and store equipment after use; remove drive block.
  • Complete work order set-ups
    • Follow request on work order to complete set-ups for meetings and seminars.
    • Complete task in a timely manner to avoid delay.
    • Break down set-up and prepare area for usage.
    • Cover gym floors with cover.
  • Operate school vehicles
    • Check condition of vehicle prior to driving.
    • Report mechanical problems or damage to grounds supervisor.
    • When backing up vehicle, utilize a spotter when available, making certain rear of vehicle is clear.
    • Do not park vehicle in handicapped space or no parking zones.
  • Clean stairwells and entrances
    • Sweep and mop stairs.
    • Vacuum landings and carpeted areas.
    • Damp wipe handrails with disinfectant.
    • Vacuum foyer and entrance mats.
    • Clean glass doors.
    • Remove scuff marks from bottom of doors.
      • Clean gymnasium, training room and weight room
    • Treat dust mops prior to dust mopping floor (Wallace Gym).
    • Use untreated dust mop on SAC and Lower School Gym floor.
    • Remove gum and black marks with mineral spirits (Wallace Gym).
    • Spot mop SAC and Lower School Gym to remove spills.
    • Clean underneath bleachers in Lower School Gym.
    • Clean bleachers in SAC and Wallace Gym.
    • Damp wipe equipment using disinfectant cleaner.
  • Attendance and Punctuality
    • Work when scheduled.
    • Begin and end work as expected.
    • Call supervisor when arriving late for work or when absent according to policy.
    • Have scheduled absences approved by supervisor according to policy.
      • Work overtime and for after hours events
    • Work other overtime shifts as assigned by supervisor.
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures set forth in the employee handbook.
  • Ensure everything in your area is in working order.
  • Accept any other duties as assigned by supervisor, including
    • Stripping and refinishing;
    • Carpet shampooing;
    • Carpet extractions;
    • Restroom scrubbing and wall washing;
    • Courier service to bank and post office;
    • Scrubbing of pool deck, SAC, and little gym; and
    • Seasonal projects.

 

Position qualifications:          

Must be at least 18 years of age; maintain excellent attendance and punctuality; be able to work overtime for after hour events, where applicable; possess proficient oral and written communication skills.
