Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Will employ a number of duties in the areas of Lease Administration, accounting, project support, and a variety of administrative duties consisting but not limited to the following:

Accounting – Oversight responsibilities for the accounting and financial reporting of the Company’s Lease Administration team such as:

  • Provide leadership to the Lease Administration team, including, but not limited to, training and development of the staff, planning team goals, and accounting for the Company’s leasing related transactions.
  • Take a lead role in managing the month-end close responsibilities for the Lease Administration function, including reviewing the accounting for revenue recognition of new leases and analyzing monthly rental revenue and tenant recoveries trends
  • Perform technical accounting research and financial analyses relating to complex leases and new accounting literature updates
  • Take a lead role in implementing process changes to comply with the new accounting literature updates
  • Responsible for the completeness and accuracy of the general ledgers
  • Responsible for the effectiveness of Company’s internal controls. 
  • Assist with the year-end CAM reconciliation and annual operating budgets.
  • Act as a lead liaison between Accounting and other departments/regional teams to provide accounting support including, but not limited to, acquisitions and dispositions, complex leases, and ad-hoc requests.
  • Act as a lead liaison between Accounting and External and Internal Auditors to manage the quarterly reviews and annual audits.
  • Lead role in managing the team to complete the financial analyses for the Company’s earnings call, 10Q/10K and Supplemental reporting.
  • Lead special projects such as process improvements, risk management analysis, accounting for business transactions, regional reporting, and other ad-hoc projects.
  • Take part in carrying out department’s initiatives with the Accounting Management team

Supervisor/Administrative Responsibilities – Directly supervises staff employees and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies, procedures and applicable laws. Responsibilities include:

  • General oversight of accounting staff employees.
  • Interviewing, hiring, and coaching staff employees on career development
  • Training staff employees such as technical accounting concepts and soft skills
  • Planning, assigning and directing work, and appraising performance.
  • Addressing concerns and solving problems.

Qualifications and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
  • CPA required
  • 7+ years of accounting experience with 3+ years of public accounting experience required
  • Strong technical accounting skills required
  • Technical lease accounting experience highly desirable
  • Real estate background preferred
  • Technical accounting research skills desirable
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with all levels including, but not limited to HQ/field personnel, senior management, lenders, third party vendors, etc.
  • Proficient in business related software: Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
  • JD Edwards Accounting software experience desirable
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Experience in managing a large accounting team
  • Ability to initiate ideas and implement process improvements
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment, multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines
