Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Capital Markets Transactions:
    • Serve as the central individual to coordinate Alexandria, underwriting banks, internal counsel, Alexandria’s external counsel, underwriter’s counsel, auditors and other involved parties during the public offering of debt or equity securities.
    • Work with various internal groups to prepare and review the offering marketing materials used by CEO & CFO at launch of offerings.
    • Gather diligence materials for review by auditors and underwriter’s counsel, and respond to follow-up requests by both parties.
    • Assist with the drafting and review of shelf registrations, prospectus supplements, underwriting agreements, net roadshow, launch and pricing press releases, and other related documents for offerings.
    • Spearhead evaluation of accounting treatment of unique or complex attributes of debt and equity offerings with bankers, counsel, and auditors.
  • Technical Accounting Research:
    • Lead all efforts to stay abreast of new standards, rules, and regulations issued by the FASB, the SEC, and the NYSE, and any related guidance issued by accounting firms, law firms, and NAREIT.
    • Using the knowledge gained from these publications, reach out to all stakeholders that will either contribute to adoption of the rules, or ultimately be effected by implementation of the rules, to develop a plan for accounting, disclosures, and internal control changes required by the new standards, rules, and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • CPA required.
  • 8-10 years of related experience, including 5+ years in public accounting (preferably “Big 4”).
  • Must have a strong understanding of GAAP and SEC reporting requirements for publicly traded companies or companies with publicly listed debt issues.
  • Investment banking background, or experience in a finance-focused role or treasury operations role in a publicly traded company is a plus.
  • Real estate background is a plus.
  • Strong writing skills to create complete and accurate disclosures and memos, and/or perform a detailed review of the technical writing of others.
  • Ability to own the process of implementing technical accounting changes to existing processes or accounting functions that are owned by one or more internal groups
  • Ability to fuse their own technical knowledge of new accounting pronouncements with the practical knowledge of existing process owners to keenly understand how a broad principles-based pronouncement will specifically impact the company.
  • Diligent organization skills and keen attention to detail are a must.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work efficiently to deliver a high quality product that takes advantage of opportunistic market conditions as they arise.
