Summary of Position:
 

The Corporate Accounting Manager reports to the Assistant Controller and supports in directing and managing the accounting, auditing, and budgeting functions within the organization. Additionally, the Corporate Accounting Manager supports the company’s compensation accounting (including stock-based compensation), investment accounting, and other general corporate accounting activities. In addition, they will ensure compliance with SEC/financial reporting rules and Sarbanes-Oxley financial requirements.
 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
 

  • Manage corporate accounting functions, including compensation accounting (including stock-based compensation), investment accounting, and other general accounting functions.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP/SEC Regulations, applicable federal, state and local regulatory laws, and company policy.
  • Lead large portions of the monthly and quarterly financial close process.
  • Prepare accurate and timely information for inclusion in consolidated financial statements and reports for annual, quarterly, and periodic SEC filing requirements, including financial statements, footnotes, and MD&A.
  • Partner with Internal Audit in supporting corporate and divisional Sarbanes-Oxley compliance efforts; maintain systems and controls that verify the integrity of ally systems, processes, and financial data.
  • Reconcile and analyze various company bookkeeping functions including general ledgers and accounts payable/receivable, ensures accuracy of entries.
  • Manage organizational cash flow and review all job cost budget revisions.
  • Prepare budgets and monthly budget variance analysis.
  • Monitor, track, and report stock-based compensation across the Company.
  • Calculate and report on quarterly earnings per share.
  • Prepare stock-based compensation disclosures for Company’s financial statements.
  • Assist in the continued build-out of the accounting function and team to ensure outstanding execution of responsibilities.
  • Manage, mentor and support a team; delegate work assignments, set expectations and evaluate results.
 

Education and Experience Requirements:
 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field is required.
  • CPA and MBA preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience with a strong accounting/financial background in public accounting, public company, and/or multifamily or construction industry.
  • Familiarity with US GAAP and how it related to stock-based compensation.
  • Knowledge of Sage/Timberline, TimberScan, and Yardi a plus.
  • Ability to research, interpret, and document accounting positions based upon technical standards.
  • Excellent analytical skills and strong technical experience with Excel and other data analytic tools.
  • Be a proven leader that can work quickly, accurately, and independently in a fast-paced environment with all levels of management.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Attention to detail with ability to learn quickly.
  • Proven track record for meeting deadlines.
  • Strong communication and supervisory skills.
  • Strong prioritization skills while managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
 

Physical Requirements:
 

This is primarily a sedentary office position which requires the Corporate Accounting Manager to have the ability to operate computer equipment, speak, hear, bend, stoop, reach, lift, and move and carry up to 25 lbs. Finger dexterity is necessary.
