Description

LivCor, a Blackstone portfolio company, is a real estate asset management business specializing in multi-family housing. Formed in 2013 and headquartered in Chicago, LivCor is currently responsible for a portfolio of over 400 Class A and B properties comprising more than 150,000 units in markets across the United States.

Our business is focused on making real estate more valuable. But for us, it’s more than that. It’s people first, community always. It’s a life-filled career, not just a career-filled life. It’s doing good work, with good humans, and making a difference. It’s excellence in all its forms. Ultimately, we create great places to work, live, and grow. We do that by focusing on leaving people – and places – better than we found them.

Whew! Still with us? Cool. Let’s talk about where you’d fit in:

  • Creative storytelling to build and drive our program of proactive, external outreach – from executive communications to local media for the real estate we own.
    • To get more specific – this role is centered around proactive storytelling of our wide array of stakeholders - including property managers/employees, residents, and the local community - with executive communications as needed.
    • To increase visibility amongst the community, government, tenants, and larger Blackstone ecosystem you will identify and tell feel-good stories from our communities to local media, highlighting the great work the employees at our properties are doing and the community-building events they are hosting, and human interest stories featuring our residents.
  • Manage the reputation of our numerous multi-family communities by pointing the spotlight on the positives coming out of them so that when things get tough, we can point to the good work, people-first places we have created.
  • Be responsible for finding opportunities to tell our good owner story at a local level.
    • This will involve you being proactive, looking for compelling stories about the people and places we own and turning them into earned media opportunities.
    • You should also be a story generator, creating media opportunities from scratch and working with other business partners to pull off the required operational details.
    • Utilize your deep experience in proactive communications to build and drive a program of external executive communications for our leaders.
    • LivCor is growing rapidly, so this is all about getting our brand and people out there to attract the best talent. Help us tell the story that LivCor is one of best places to work not only in real estate but maybe even corporate America. Bold? Maybe. True? We think so.

Only read further if you are:

  • Kind
  • Humble
  • Honest
  • Relentless
  • Smart with Heart

You should be:

  • Authentic. You do you. Together, we’ll do something amazing.
  • Excited to get up in the morning because you are finding and telling the stories of individuals who aren’t often recognized in the news for the work they are doing.
  • A Reputation-Management Expert with a love for finding feel-good news.
  • A passionate person with a love for real estate and investing; and believes that helping others win is a noble cause, essential to our success.
  • An excellent team player who enjoys working with others and has strong interpersonal skills.
  • Highly motivatedenergetic, and organized
  • Gumby. Things change.
  • You give new meaning to “self-starter.”
  • Also, a sense of humor, because being able to laugh when you’re under pressure is key.

What you will do:

  • Be a member of the Corporate Communications team, you will be a part of a nimble, creative team that exists to preserve, protect and defend the Constit – wait, sorry, wrong speech – build, maintain, and enhance our reputation – locally and nationally.

    • This includes building a calendar of panels/events/webinars/podcasts, and supporting on tactical execution with speeches/talking points/key messages etc.
  • Partner with other teams and our third-party operators to find media-worthy stories about our real estate, particularly involving those who live and work there.

  • Flexibility to work outside normal hours.
    • Please note – we do care about your personal life and know what this work can be like, so rosters and support will be in place.

  • Experience in any of the following is helpful but not required: government/political campaigns, hospitality, commercial real estate, transportation/aviation, or other industry that communicates directly with a wide range of stakeholders, i.e., consumers/customers/tenants and employees.
    • On that note – you should have experience telling the stories of those aforementioned stakeholders!
  • Exceptional executive presence, including experience supporting senior leaders with communications.
  • Comfort with flexible work hours, work environments, and pace – some days will be extremely up-tempo, others will be more focused on getting ahead of things. You will also enjoy the variance of swinging between strategic thinking and intensive reactive mode.
  • Knowledge of social media, digital engagement, and strategic best practices for communications.
  • Expert-level proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Ambition without ego.
  • It would be a real plus if you are funny.

What we offer:

We know that if we take care of our team everything else will fall into place. We aren’t perfect, but we will try to set very clear expectations, always let you know where you stand, and do everything in our power to help you get where you want to go.

Our culture and values matter to us. A lot. We’re definitely not serious but we take this stuff seriously, if you get what we mean. We want a place that is an ego-free zone. A place where good people do good things together. It shouldn’t be rocket science in workplaces, but for some reason it still is? We’re absolutely determined to be different, and we think we’re doing a pretty good job at it. We have a CEO who makes fun of himself, and who will encourage you to tell him when he is wrong. In fact, he needs people to – we all do. Supportive challenge is good, it’s how we get better. We like getting better. We also love diversity, of all kinds. We need people who look, sound, speak, love, and exist differently from one another. This isn’t at the end of this paragraph because it’s an afterthought. It’s SO important to us we want it to stand out.

Right. On to the technical stuff that we know matters to you. We offer competitive pay that is commensurate with the market and relevant experience, and a full slate of benefits that even includes things like paid parental leave.

If any of this sounds interesting, then maybe we are a fit. Life is too short to work with people you don’t like. So whatever you do, don’t make that mistake.

In compliance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this position is $162,150 - $203,550 (for candidates that reside in CO).  This role is bonus eligible.  Benefits include generous health insurance and wellness benefits, 401(k), and paid time off.

The LivCorian Values

  1. Be you. Be Real. Be Open. You do you. Together, we will do something amazing.
  2. Care, Always. We don’t want to let anyone down.
  3. Courageously Curious. We love to learn, even when it hurts.
  4. Help Others Win, Be A Good Neighbor. This is about ‘We, not Me.’
  5. Relentless Hustle, Heart & Humility. Work hard. Be Kind. Make Better.
