JOB SUMMARY:

Facilitate all aspects of accounting for apartment communities including processing of accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliation of general ledger accounts, bank reconciliations, preparation of monthly financial statements, preparation of balance sheet reconciliations and schedules for property tax and insurance. Ensures compliance with company policies, contractual obligations and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.


Job Description:

  • Performs, monitors, and/or manages the day-to-day accounting and month end close functions. Records financial transactions.
  • Prepares, reviews, and distributes financial reports.
  • Prepares reconciliations and financial analysis.
  • Prepares budgets, forecasts, trend analysis, and fluctuation commentary.
  • Provides financial reporting and analysis to internal and external business partners.
  • Identifies opportunities and implements process improvements.
  • Acts as Team Leader including mentoring new hires, leading projects, and resolving issues. Participates in special projects that impact policies and procedures.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert for specialized accounting areas/systems, including training and troubleshooting in area of expertise.
  • Treasury functions, analysis, and reporting
  • Assist with acquisitions, dispositions, and other complex transactions

Requirements

 

Key Competencies and Qualifications:

  • Strong Excel skills and conceptual knowledge of GAAP/SFAS
  • Ability to analyze financial data
  • Ability to research and report results
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Must be detail oriented, possess a strong sense of accountability, and be self-motivated
  • Takes ownership to personally resolve customer problems
  • Ability to work in a collaborative manner with staff, peers, and supervisor
  • Positive attitude, professional demeanor, team player
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from a four-year college or university, plus 1-2 years’ experience preferred
  • 1-year experience with Yardi or other property management software a plus
  • Must be able to follow directions, be innovative and resourceful, provide excellence customer service, and always display respect and professionalism.
