The Opportunity:

National Development (“ND”) is seeking a senior real estate development professional to serve in a key leadership position within ND’s development management team.  ND has a deep pipeline of large-scale projects across a variety of product types including high-rise residential, life science, senior housing, hospitality and industrial in both the urban and suburban built environment.  The main focus of this role is to lead multiple, complex and highly strategic real estate development projects both directly, and in collaboration with ND development team members, while also fostering mentorship and providing general oversight and direction for the development team’s short and long term objectives.  Secondary responsibilities include generating and cultivating a future project pipeline, in conjunction with our acquisition team, with the goal of ensuring and solidifying the growth, progression and future successes of the company.

As Project Executive of the Development Team, responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Serving as Project Executive and overseeing several, multi-faceted real estate development projects simultaneously from inception to completion in collaboration with development managers.
  • Initiating a collaborative and inclusive work environment focused on strong, concise management of day-to-day tasks associated with the acquisition, design, construction and implementation of development projects.
  • Analyzing future ground-up development and pursuing potential new business opportunities including, but not limited to, assessing land acquisition opportunities, underwriting, and supporting various interdepartmental groups with new deal parameters.
  • Nurturing the personal growth of the development team’s project managers ranging from senior to associate level through daily collaboration and coaching.
  • Fostering strong relationships with key joint venture partners and clients.
  • Overseeing complex local, state and federal permitting processes and establishing long-term working relationships with key public officials and key stakeholders in the permitting effort. 
  • Consistently demonstrating strong core values aligned with ND’s key fundamental values including, but not limited to, open communication, entrepreneurial spirit, diversity and inclusion, a commitment to giving back and an overarching goal of building sustainable communities. 
  • Establishing proper reporting and clear and timely communication protocols with key partners of the firm and constituents, both internally and externally.
  • Demonstrating exceptional time management skills with the ability to adeptly address multiple priorities and meet critical project demands. 

 

What You Bring to Us:

  • A passionate and proven leader of highly complex real estate development projects with a focus on managing and mentoring ND development team members.
  • A strong acumen for organizing and leading dynamic project teams, preferably within the Greater Boston Area.
  • Ability to prepare and understand complex financial models, assemble and review detailed cost estimates, navigate challenging negotiations and implementation of set contracts necessary to complete all phases and types of projects.   
  • An aptitude to identify market-specific development goals/objectives and implement strategic business plans and objectives in close collaboration with ND’s senior leadership. 
  • A focus on the importance of teamwork and willingness to encourage collaboration, participation, and career development, both internally and externally, among the project team.
  • Regularly seeking opportunities to engage with the Greater Boston Real Estate community through a series of strategic networking opportunities with the goal of fostering personal growth while representing the integrity and strength of the firm in this marketplace.
  • 20+ years of experience in construction/real estate development.
  • Bachelor Degree Required.
  • Advanced Degree/MBA Preferred.
