WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
The Property Accountant is responsible for monitoring the receipt processing of their assigned communities and processing corrections as appropriate. This position will process timely and accurate completion of monthly financial statements, with concise explanations of unusual financial statement variances to budget.
The Property Accountant is responsible for monitoring the receipt processing of their assigned communities and processing corrections as appropriate. This position will process timely and accurate completion of monthly financial statements, with concise explanations of unusual financial statement variances to budget.
WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU:
- Monitor receipt processing of assigned communities
- Process corrections as appropriate throughout each month
- Process write-offs, security deposits, and rent refunds in a timely manner
- Monitor and analyze all monthly expenses providing explanations of unusual items
- Assist communities with questions arising during the month
- Assist with internal audit of communities
- Closely monitor team member delinquencies
- Monitor community entries--assist with improvements (reducing errors)
- Monthly, produce accurate and timely financial statements for assigned communities
- Track general ledger reclassifications and report results monthly
- Prepare monthly variance analysis of all utility accounts
- Prepare monthly actual to budget variance review/explanation for all accounts (asset, liability, equity, income/expense)
- Ensure monthly utility accrual and biweekly rent deduct entries are reviewed and posted
- Contribute to the team's effort by accomplishing tasks and assisting with projects as needed
- Comply with all Southern Management's policies and procedures
- Perform various other duties as assigned by Director and/or Supervisor
JOB KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Proficient analytical skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to be a self-starter
- Excellent Excel skills
- Minimum three (3) years accounting experience in an automated environment preferred
- BS degree in Accounting or relevant experience in accounting (5-7 years)
- Yardi experience preferred
