Aimco is seeking a Sr. Tax Accountant to join our team in the beautiful Denver Tech Center. This job is in the office full-time, though there will be an opportunity for a hybrid schedule after the initial training period. 

Job Description

You will support the tax function, including support of federal & state tax compliance, accounting for income taxes, partnerships, corporate,  REIT compliance, and due diligence. Additionally, you’ll work closely with various business groups, providing information and assistance on tax-related matters that materially impact the business.

A bit more about what you’ll do…

• Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns by gathering information relevant to the tax filing period while coordinating with external firms. This includes Federal/state/local tax returns for corporate, partnership, and REIT returns.
• Prepare the company’s book/tax differences for quarterly and annual accounting income tax provision (ASC740) and related financial statement disclosures. Includes preparing support for deferred, NOL, credit carryforwards and tax account balances as well as tax-related journal entries and corresponding general ledger reconciliations.
• Prepare tax estimates by reviewing historic, current, and future financial information.
• Modeling potential transactions along with their impact on Aimco and its stakeholders.
• Analyze transactions and identify areas of opportunity as they relate to federal, state, and local taxation issues.
• Analyze current processes and look for improvement opportunities.
• Support the maintenance of REIT compliance across the organization and address/escalate issues as needed.
• Provide timely and accurate tax support to Finance, Debt, Accounting, Investment Management, Legal, Human Resources, and Senior leadership

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or similar field
• CPA, Preferred
• Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
• Minimum 3-6 years of tax accounting experience including and/or public accounting. Prior experience in public or Big 4 accounting is highly preferred but not required.
• Experience coaching and mentoring
• Exposure to REIT Compliance and Partnership tax regulations is preferred, but not required. 
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills translating into the ability to articulate information when providing insights to various department leads.

Software

Strong excel, word, and outlook skills preferred. Familiarity with tax software (gosystems, prosyststem, etc).

Additional Information

Salary Range: Pay for this role will be commensurate with the experience and skills of the selected candidate. The anticipated hiring range for this position is $95,000-$105,000 plus a generous annual bonus.
