Senior Associate or VP of Investments

Role/Purpose

AHV Communities is rapidly growing and is seeking a highly motivated candidate with significant investment management experience to play an active role in the company’s acquisitions and ongoing asset management. As part of the Investment Management team and reporting to the President of AHV, this role will be responsible for working in collaboration with the acquisition teams on new investment opportunities in evaluating financial feasibility, processing due diligence and coordinating closings with AHV’s partners. This position will also split its time executing and providing ongoing reporting of active projects in collaboration with other departments and teams.  This position requires a high level of organization with relevant financial and/or investment management experience. Experience with institutional capital, multifamily development and/or homebuilding preferred.  This role will be based out of Costa Mesa, CA.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Evaluate new investment opportunities for strategic alignment with the company’s mission, investment criteria and financial feasibility.
  • Work directly with the underwriting, land acquisition and development teams in processing and executing new investment opportunities including securing entitlements, identifying critical paths and proactive deal management.
  • Review and analysis of project budget and schedules across acquisition, land development, construction and ongoing operations.
  • Draft investment memos for internal and external review.
  • Conduct company, industry due diligence and credit analysis on new transaction and development opportunities.
  • Review and provide recommendations of PSA’s, contracts and other critical documents
  • Active engagement in weekly team meetings.
  • Build and maintain relationships with market stakeholders including brokers, owners, consultants, etc.
  • Help manage joint venture partner relationships by providing active oversight of existing investments (and development projects), including regular performance updates, budget reviews and valuations.
  • Work closely with the executive team, 3rd party consultants and legal counsel in fielding project specific questions
  • Active monitoring of any project covenants (City, lender, etc.)
  • Implement active investor reporting system for project specific updates  

 

Requirements

  • B.S. in real estate, finance, economics, accounting, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience (multifamily development, homebuilding, investment banking, and/or private equity)
  • Highly motivated self-starter
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
  • Position requires sitting, walking, and occasionally standing.
  • Noise level for office environment is quiet to moderate.
  • Position requires travel.
