Position Summary

Ethos Development Partners is an experienced team of developers and consultants with broad experience collaborating with public, private and nonprofit organizations in the development of transformative housing and community development initiatives. We are looking for an enthusiastic, committed individual who is excited to join a hard-working, mission-driven team. Reporting to the President, the Development Manager is one of two full-time real estate development positions at Ethos Development Partners. The Development Manager will  work closely with our clients, funding partners and a variety of state, local and federal agencies who support the work of our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with project team to prepare timely submission of applications and documentation required to successfully finance affordable housing and community development projects. Applications may include LIHTC, HOME, NMTC and conventional financing, among others.
  • Assist in analyzing project scope and informing a project strategy to meet the unique needs of each client and project.
  • Provide ongoing project management support throughout the development process. Track and record project and client information on a daily basis.
  • Create agendas, facilitate meetings, record minutes and notes and ensure any necessary follow-up. 
  • Act as a liaison between client and government agencies.
  • Build relationships with clients, consultants and other stakeholders to create responsive and effective partnerships to fuel the development process.
  • Represent Ethos in meetings with clients, community groups and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in trainings and meetings when needed.
  • Perform administrative duties in support of day-to-day operations.
  • Contribute to business development and writing proposals for projects.
  • Actively build industry expertise and reputation on behalf of Ethos.

Basic Qualifications

  • Detail-oriented
  • At least three years of professional experience, preferably working in real estate development, affordable housing or housing finance
  • Familiarity with real estate proformas/budgeting
  • Solid project management experience; proven ability to organize people, files, tasks and other elements of complex projects to deliver results
  • Ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously and meet required deadlines
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented self-starter who enjoys working in an entrepreneurial setting
  • Flexible, patient and a creative problem solver
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Entrepreneurial mindset
  • Sense of humor
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite or data entry software

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of real estate financing, affordable housing, community development and federal, state, or city housing programs, particularly LIHTC and HUD programs
  • Familiarity with nonprofit sector and municipal government; skills navigating complex organizations and multiple relationships

Educational Background

Bachelor’s Degree in urban planning, business, finance, public administration, community development or equivalent professional experience.


Location: Metro-Detroit Based


Travel Requirements

Ability to travel throughout metropolitan Detroit to attend client meetings (after COVID-19) a few times a week. Limited state-wide and possible minor out-of-state travel.


Salary

$75,000 - $100,000 with opportunities for bonus/growth.
