We are seeking a Development Analyst in the New York City area to support the Greystone Development investment management team. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of relevant experience in asset management, development, acquisitions or real estate investment banking. The Development Analyst primary focuses would consist of asset management of existing portfolio, evaluation of new development opportunities, management of capital events.

Greystone Development’s investment, development, construction, marketing, and asset management teams remain fully integrated throughout the entire life cycle of a project to ensure efficiency and successful results.  

Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed underwriting and assessment of new investment opportunities, including market, asset, comps, economic drivers, sensitivity analysis and due diligence
  • Research property markets across the US, including demographic data as well as competitive property sales and leasing data (focus on South East and North East)
  • Create detailed offering memoranda for each investment opportunity and aide in the preparation of other investment materials
  • Review asset strategy presentations, annual budgets, and cash flow projections for annual business plan
  • Monitor specific performance measures to identify risks, trends and opportunities
  • Create and maintain property-level financial models and prepare hold/finance/sell recommendations and valuations
  • Prepare initial project budget, in conjunction with development, construction and operation team members, track performance and provide forecasting
  • Assist in sourcing capital and interact with outside investors and lenders 
  • Prepare external reports to investors and lenders
  • Assist with due diligence and control the flow of information from Lender third party consultants, assembling weekly, monthly & quarterly project reports.
  • Prepare Investment Committee Presentations
  • Evaluate opportunities to maximize value of owned assets
  • Critical thinking and analyze information to provide meaningful insight and input into deals
  • Build and enhance trusted, permanent relationships while interfacing with investors, lenders, and brokers
  • Minimal travel may be required on an as needed basis

Qualifications:

  • 5+ Years in experience in real estate, preferably multi-family
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferably in finance, economics, accounting, or other analytical / quantitative fields)
  • Excellent academic track record with a concentration in finance or real estate preferred
  • Strong computer and financial modeling skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Power Point and Adobe Acrobat
  • Must have a strong work ethic
  • Effectively manages multiple assignments
  • Strong analytical and excellent problem-solving skills
  • Must have strong organizational and time management skills
  • Must be highly self-motivated pursuing continuous improvement to develop a comprehensive understanding of the business
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Must be an effective communicator with all levels of employees, including senior management
  • Ability to work independently and with a diverse group of real estate professionals team with emphasis on accuracy and timelines
