Director, Real Estate Client Advisory

 

Our Real Estate team manages the province’s portfolio of government buildings and land, which is one of the largest and most diverse in the country. We oversee the day-to-day operation and long-term maintenance of these facilities through partnerships with private-sector service providers. We are responsible for ensuring provincially-owned real estate is being used in the best, most optimal way. Finding innovative ways to reduce and revitalize the government’s building and land holdings is central to our business and integral to the value we provide Ontarians.

 

The Director, Real Estate Client Advisory is an essential role with responsibilities split between managing client relationships, and providing leadership internally to a client facing team to ensure consistent and supported office real estate recommendations.

 

What you will do:

  • Manage and lead a client facing team and a portfolio of ministries.
  • In this capacity the Director determines work priorities, sets performance standards, reviews staff performance and provides performance feedback to staff on a regular basis
  • Provide strategic real estate advice and expertise to stakeholders and client Ministries to ensure optimal utilization of provincial lands and buildings in support of government objectives. 
  • Provide timely and accurate reporting on the portfolio.
  • Develop, enhance and maintain strong client relationships.   
  • Supervise escalated issues management and resolution for the ministries.

 

Who we’re looking for:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to coach and mentor others in a collaborative environment including providing guidance and constructive feedback is required.
  • Over 10 years of experience in strategic asset management, real estate consulting or corporate real estate.
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Real Estate, Planning, Business, Economics or a related field.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of real estate trends and financial analysis such as present value, cost benefit, cash flow and payback methodologies.
  • Experience in strategic asset management, real estate consulting, or corporate real estate and experience in developing, recommending and implementing recommendations in a corporate real estate environment
  • Direct experience in strategic asset management, real estate consulting, or corporate real estate.
  • Excellent analytical and research skills and strategic, critical and abstract thinking are required.

Employment in the Real Estate Division is conditional upon obtaining security clearance through the Program & Policy Enablement Branch, Supply Chain Ontario of the Ministry of Government and Consumer Services.

 

To succeed in this role you must have excellent customer service, consulting, business case writing and presentation skills to develop and maintain enduring and trusted relationships with client ministries; strong issues analysis, management and conflict resolutions skills to provide support to senior management to achieve corporate objectives; analytical synthesis skills to understand complex issues and the ability to develop long-term strategies.
