We are looking for an analytical Rockstar to join our small but highly talented Freddie Mac Multifamily Underwriting team. As a Multifamily Underwriting Senior, you will be responsible for execution of our Small Balance Loan (SBL) program this includes evaluating the overall story, make decisions on the credit risk profile, all while creating meaning work that will benefit the housing community. Your work falls into three primary categories:

Engagement
  • Solid understanding of analyzing, mitigating, and clearly defining credit risk
  • Creative, good at problem solving and a strong communicator
  • Self-motivated with an ability to prioritize, take initiative, and operate proactively
  • Must be highly organized with a strong ability to multi-task
  • Build relationships with external customers to enhance underwriting execution and attract future business
Structure and Development
  • Proven ability to learn fast in diverse business environments
  • Competent at project management and juggling multiple, fast paced deliverables
  • Very comfortable with numbers and analytics
  • Help teach and mentor junior Underwriting staff
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to Associate SBL Underwriters
  • Develop resolutions to problems of limited scope following specific and detailed procedures to help drive efficiency
  • Quickly grow within the role to gain loan approval authority
  • Keep updated on policies and regulations that may affect the industry and be comfortable with transition and change
Customer Communication
  • Excellent interpersonal skills that encourage team cooperation, promote enthusiasm, and both demonstrate and motivate strategic thinking
  • Highly professional demeanor and interpersonal skills

Qualifications
  • Typically has a minimum of 5+ years of directly related experience
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience in the real estate industry; advance degree preferred
  • Knowledge of real estate property fundamentals and real estate lending/underwriting
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Ability to work independently and travel domestically
  • Experience underwriting a high volume of multifamily loans
